Small antique French confit pot with yellow glaze
Beautiful small antique French confit pots, traditional to Provence and dating to the late 19thc/early 20thc. The price is per pot.
While the largest pots were used for preserving and storing meat through the winter, these rare, miniature pots were used for keeping salt, or in this case, honey. These are smallest we’ve come across, with a height of t 4.3inches (11cm) and 5 inches (12.5cm) respectively.
Hand made in terracotta, they are part glazed in ocher/yellow. Both are very well preserved and after many decades of use. They have some loss of enamel around the rim, which is often the case, when they have been tapped with a spoon or a knife.
