19thc enamelled jewellery casket with ormolu mount
A French 19th century jewelry casket in the style of Jean-Pierre Tahan, c1870.
The rectangular box has has 5 hand-painted curved enamel plaques in green with foiled paillon and beaded with enamel and gold pearls using Bressan enamel techniques.
Mounted in gilt bronze with 4 ornate feet. The casket opens with a flap and closes snugly. The inside is upholstered in beige silk taffeta, a little discoloured and with pin pricks, but otherwise sound.
Unsigned but in consistent with the work of Jean-Pierre Tahan (1813-1892), cabinetmaker to Napoleon III.
Measurements : 6.25 ” x 3″ x 2.75″ / 16cm x 7.5cm x 7cm
Very good condition. One pearl missing to the back of the box. Light wear to the ormolu mount.
