Description
Victorian bog oak bracelet, mid-19thc
A Victorian bog oak bracelet with 7 elasticated panels in relief. The oval in the centre has a bouquet of flowers. Probably English. Re-threaded on black elastic.
Usually described as mourning jewellery, black jewelry in jet, ebony, Irish bog oak or carved ebony was above all extremely fashionable from in the 1850s-1880s. This is a lovely example in good condition. There is a small patch of wear on one edge of the oval and some crackling to the back of the bracelet, which is quite normal.
Oval panel 42mm x 30mm
The elastic has plenty of stretch and slips easily over the hand.
