Leon Pointu vase Ecole de Carries Arts & Crafts c1920
Rare, imposing Arts & Crafts vase by Léon Pointu from around 1920.
In deep blue stoneware with a mossy green drip glaze which runs thickly down the body.
It has Pointu’s engraved signature on the base.

Léon Pointu (1879-1942) was a noted French ceramist. Along with his father, Jean, he was a major figure of the Ecole de Carriès in Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye. Léon favoured massive pieces with pure lines and complex glazes.
