Large Charles Greber Art Nouveau jardiniere in glazed stoneware. Made in Beauvais, France, around 1900.
It has an elegant curvilinear shape with handles in the form of ferns and a subtle glaze with drips of mauve and blue over a mossy green background.
A noted French ceramist, Greber (1853-1935) was the son of a successful Beauvais pottery manufacturer. He designed exterior and interior architectural features as well as artistic pottery pieces using flambé glazes.
