Rare Art Deco ceramic sculpture by Paul Milet, Sèvres, c1935
Paul Milet (1870-1950) was an independent Sèvres ceramist who was noted for his work with enamels as well as his stoneware, winning medals at the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1902 and exhibiting at the great porcelain exhibitions of the day, before making a successful transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco.
This parakeet sculpture is marked on the base,PM Sèvres, so we know it dates from after 1930, but before 1945, when the trademark was discontinued.
