Pair of Art Deco Val St Lambert Luxval candlesticks 1935
Devilishly Deco pair of candlesticks made by the cristallerie Val Saint Lambert as part of its Luxval range.
VSL launched Luxval in the 1930s, in answer to declining sales of cut glass and crystal. The Luxval collection was fashionable and epitomised the modern Art Deco/Machine Age style. Pieces are often very heavy as they were moulded in crystal or semi-crystal.
This terrific pair of double candlesticks has echoes of the London Tube bullseye, with its rondel and lines. It features as model No. 85 in the Luxval catalogue.
