Fratelli Fanciullacci Mid Century Italian Vase, African Figures
Sassy Fratelli Fanciullacci vase dating from the 1960s. It’s hand decorated in etched raw clay.
In the foreground, you can see stylised African figures in sgraffito and brilliant enamel colours. We think it oozes Italian mid century style, don’t you?
This African design was apparently popular as it was made in a variety of shapes and sizes, but these days it’s hard to find examples in good condition. Scroll the photos to see a wall charger from the same range, featured in Mark Hill’s book: Alla Moda Italian Ceramics of the 1950s-1970s.
Height 9 ¾ inches
4 ½ inches wide
It’s in super condition with no chips, cracks or restoration, just a little roughness to the rim.
